Stefan Savides b. 1950 American | On a recent safari adventure to the remarkable Singita Sasakwa Lodge in Tanzania, artist and Forsyth co-founder, John O’Hara, became obsessed with a 4-foot-tall bronze of a secretary bird, whose wings span 5 1/2 feet. “I’m a huge sculpture lover especially in room design," says O’Hara, "and this work was truly a masterpiece.” O’Hara asked the lodge manager for the artist’s name and so the relationship with the amazing Stefan Savides began. Savides is a world renowned taxidermist and sculptor whose work is found in many public spaces as well as private collections including that of Dick and Mary Cabela of the eponymous brand. “Savidess sculptures combine an acute awareness of anatomy with a less is more fluency that creates the perfect balance of detail and abstraction," exclaims O’Hara. "We are truly honored to represent Stefan Savides and present his work to our audience who may have not considered avian sculpture in their room design but should.”
Savides lives and works in his Klamath Falls, Oregon studio.
