No leather scrap goes unused in Studio OTZI's workshop. As a material, leather is laborious and expensive to produce so they make a point to use each hide to the fullest. Inspired by traditional conveyor belts, formed of links like bicycle chains, the Click bench ensures that every scrap and off-cut gets put to good use. Leather is punched out, then threaded onto lengths of dowel and mounted. The profiles of the frame are set to match the leather, inviting the hand to engage with the warmth of the piece. The undulating surface itself demands tactile engagement, and will burnish with use. The bench is finished with a papercord-wrapped shelf underneath, a final accent that extends function and references traditional, cord-wrapped footstools. Perfect for a hallway or bedroom, the Click bench can be modified to almost any length or dimension, and curved around radiuses. Because of the nature of the off-cuts used, each bench will have its own, unique character.
Bespoke Options: The wood frame choices are oak, fumed oak, elm, ash, plane or walnut. The standard length is 59.05 inches. Available in custom lengths on request.
Production lead time: 10-12 weeks
