Description
Beginning in 1956, Arne Jacobsen began his best known commission for the Royal SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. Designing the complete structure and furnishings, he created such modern icons as the Egg and Swan chair. The Giraffe chair, made of elm and upholstery, was designed exclusively for the dining room in the hotel. Only 120 in total were made and none were available for sale to the public. We snagged this stunningly rare pair at auction. We hated to lose the original upholstery from the hotel but the pair were in need of serious interior restoration. Restored from the bones in our signature zebra hide, these chairs are sure to some day have a place in one of the most beautiful rooms on Earth.
